LONDON / Studying since 2015 · 250+ lessons

I have been taking lessons with Tsuyoshi since 2015 and couldn’t have asked for a better fit for me as a teacher.

When I initially discovered Ted Greene, and his complete mastery of harmony on the guitar, it made me want to find out everything I could about it and learn from the greatest of all time. Unfortunately I was too late to meet Ted, but shortly after that, as if heaven-sent, I crossed paths with Tsuyoshi and learned that he had taken more lessons with Ted than any other student, and was able to provide lessons over Skype.

The first thing I learned from Tsuyoshi was a harp-harmonics version of “Embraceable You”, and over 250 lessons later it’s no exaggeration to say that he has completely changed my musical life. Lessons with Tsuyoshi are so pressure-free, and so gentle and encouraging that I truly believe him to be the perfect person to study with if you have an interest in really pursuing a really deep understanding of harmony on the guitar, specifically in the school of Ted Greene.

Through Tsuyoshi, I have also been able to study Ted’s voicing systems, his seemingly never-ending ideas and ways to learn music theory, and the most beautiful of arrangements with modulation, intros, outros, the lot! I am playing beyond a level that I never thought it would be possible to achieve, and I would highly recommend seeking out Tsuyoshi if you want to do the same.

I’d been looking for a teacher like Tsuyoshi for a long time before I found him, and I didn’t fully understand what I was looking for until I started studying with him. He carries the Ted Greene lineage with real reverence — not as a credential, but as something he’s genuinely responsible for passing on. That care shows up in how he teaches: patient, precise, deeply generous with what he knows, and completely without ego about it.

He’s the teacher I always hoped I’d find. I take lessons with him regularly and I don’t plan to stop until he decides to retire, which I hope is never.
